Explore more than 125 chemistry experiments!Ā
Enroll in Chem C1000 and prepare for a lifetime of fascination with this essential science. Start with an introduction to chemistry, set up your lab space, and learn how to safely handle laboratory equipment and chemicals.
Indicators, colors, and fluids: Learn about indicators with litmus solution and write a secret message in invisible ink. Test inks from colored markers on the chromatography racetrack to reveal their different color components. Investigate air pressure, surface tension, and the physical properties of fluids.
Metals, gases, water, and crystals: Experiment with iron and copper, investigate carbon dioxide, and dissolve metals through electrochemical reactions. Explore water and its elements, saturated and unsaturated solutions, and crystals. Split water into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis, and produce oxygen from hydrogen peroxide.
Chemistry in everyday materials: Experiment with soaps, detergents, and emulsions of oil and water. Investigate chemistry in the kitchen using sugar, honey, eggs and proteins, fatty acids, tannins, and calcium.
Build a strong foundation in chemistry. A broad range of chemical phenomena and hands-on laboratory experiences introduces young chemists to essential concepts and techniques. The kit provides clear instructions for preparing and performing the experiments, safety guidance, explanations of observed results, and questions that encourage further investigation.
Professional-quality equipment helps young chemists make the most of each activity. The 80-page, full-color experiment manual provides step-by-step guidance for all 125 experiments.
